    1. Competition is open to secondary school to university students  


    1. Category 1: Secondary Students age between 13 – 17* years old


    1. Category 2: Tertiary Students age between 18 – 25 years old


    1. *Students age 17 years old who is in Junior College, Polytechnic or other vocational school will fall under tertiary education.


    1. Top students from 2017 & 2018 ICDL Digital Challenge from each participating country are not eligible to participate in 2019 competition.


    1. Students will be required to provide/prove their student identity upon registration at each round of the competition.

    2. All participating students are required to select the Professional Track they wish to participate during the National Round competition
      1. Business & Finance, or
      2. Design & Engineering




    1. Qualifying period for the Preliminary Round in all territories are from Jan 2019 – May 2019

    2. Any tests taken before or after the competition timeline stated above are strictly not allowed

    3. Students are required to sit for ONE of the selected ICDL Modules for the Preliminary Round:
      Computer Essentials, Online Essentials, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation, Online Collaboration, IT Security or Information Literacy

    4. Students should register with ICDL Asia’s appointed partner or Accredited Training Centre (ATC) and select the modules they wish to take for the first round

    5. Students are required to achieve at least a pass for the selected modules within the stated period above to qualify.



    1. Top students from each school/faculty or Test Centre (for public walk-in students) will qualify for the National Round.


    1. Date and venue of the National Round competition will be announced by our local partner in each country/territory


    1. Competition to be closed latest by 15 June 2019

    2. Students are required to sit for the following 2 modules based on the Professional Track they have selected:


    a) Business & Finance Professional Track:

    • Advanced Spreadsheets Module
    • Digital Marketing Module

    b) Design & Engineering Professional Track:

    • Image Editing Module AND
    • Computing Module


    • 3D Design Module only


    1. 1 Top student (per category, per Track) with the highest aggregate score and fastest time, will qualify for the Grand Final Competition.
    • 1 Top Secondary Student – Business & Finance track
    • 1 Top Secondary Student – Design & Engineering track
    • 1 Top Tertiary Student – Business & Finance track
    • 1 Top Tertiary Student – Design & Engineering track



    1. Top students are required to submit:

     - Business report (for Business & Finance professional track), and
     - Product design report (for Design & Engineering professional track).


    1. Project brief for Business & Finance project and Design & Engineering project will be shared to students by end May 2019
    2. Student will be given minimum 1-month (30 days) to complete and submit their final report and documents to ICDL Asia.


    1. Deadline for submission will be 5 August 2019, 12.00pm SGT time

    Project Period between: 20 Jun 2019 – 5 Aug 2019 (6 weeks)

    • Student may choose to submit the report earlier or by 5 August 2019, 12.00pm SGT time
    • All students need to keep to the 2 weeks period (14 days) for digital marketing activities. 


    1. Students are not allowed to make any changes to the reports/documents and PowerPoint presentation after it has been submitted.


    1. Coaching teacher/s can assist and help the students in this project



  1. Top students from each participating country/territory will compete in the Grand Final in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    Tentative Date: 10 – 12 September 2019


  1. A confirmation email will be sent to top students once your report has been successfully received.
  2. Students will be required to present their report to ICDL Asia’s panel judges on 11 September 2019. Marks will be awarded by the panel judges after their presentation.


  1. 80% of the total score will be based on the report submitted in July while 20% will be based on the Grand Final presentation.


  1. The report submitted and presentation will be done in English language only.


  1. Students will be competing against other students from the same Professional Track and category.


  1. All participants will be required to attend the prize presentation ceremony/event which will take place the following day of competition.

Winners will be announced during the Prize Presentation ceremony.
