Experts Prime Academy, a newly-accredited test centre in the Philippines, launched Digital Proficiency for Teachers, a program that aims to strengthen the foundation of practical digital skills of teachers. The launch was made on October 1, 2015 in Makati City, Philippines, and was attended by Damien O'Sullivan, CEO of ECDL Foundation, Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia, and accreditation consultants for Philippines, Lysa Aguila and Evelyn Narvaez.
Current proficiency programs in the country are aiming to target the gap market presented by the recent implementation of the K-12 program in the Philippine education system. Experts Prime Academy recognizes the need to primarily strengthen the digital skills of the teachers, as they are the educators who will be guiding their students towards their path, particularly their path towards digital proficiency.
Mr. Marlon Valdez, Marketing Manager of Experts Academy, presented the role of strong digital proficiency skills in educators to ensure their effectiveness amidst globalization, innovation, and specialization. Damien O' Sullivan provided the appropriate backdrop on digital proficiency in the global perspective with his presentation to start the event.
Experts Academy presented the roadmap of their program, using the ICDL certification programs as their strong foundation.
Through its President and CEO, Joseph Mark Aquino, Experts Academy also awarded the opportunity to take ICDL certification to recipient scholars. Mr. Aquino established a foundation for those displaced by typhoon Haiyan by providing them not only training but also linkage to jobs. Typhoon Haiyan is the most devastating typhoon in recorded history and has displaced thousands, some of which are students. Experts Prime's Foundation aims to strengthen the skills of those disadvantaged using the ICDL program.
