ICDL Asia Participates in UNESCO Conference for ICT in Education in Qingdao, China

ICDL Asia was invited to participate in a 2-day global forum organised by Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) and UNESCO in Qingdao, China in early July 2017.

The purpose of this forum is to share and discuss the experiences and ideas regarding ICT in Education from different countries worldwide. The three core groups of participants include - (1) Leaders from all Chinese Provincial Education Departments, (2) Leaders from MOE worldwide and, (3) International organisations in ICT education.

Chinese MOE shared its policies and framework for ICT Education and hopes to achieve the following tasks in the next 5 years:

  • To train teachers from schools in rural area and improve their skills on ICT in Education
  • To train lower-income citizens and improve their ICT and computer skill for higher level employment
  • To train students from primary and secondary schools in rural and urban area
  • To balance good education resource through ICT technology and platform

The ICDL Asia China Team have met with Education Specialist Officer Mr Robert Parua from UNESCO Beijing Office who agreed that countries around the world should learn and be certified with ICDL to improve their ICT skills. He then invited ICDL Asia to participate in another conference organized by China Adult Education Commission and UNESCO on 21st and 22nd July.
